About Dr. Blair-Komara Ph.D.

Michelle Blair-Komara, PH.D., is a multi-generational Texas native who has been deeply researching the concept of light for decades. A former lighting designer with a master’s degree in architectural lighting from the Parsons School of Design, Michelle redirected her focus to discover the more numinous aspect of light found in Nature. She earned a doctorate from The Wisdom School at Ubiquity University. Her dissertation explored the Cowgirl as an archetypal image and a teleological force of the Goddess principle that shatters societal constraints to empower herself from a soulful and instinctual perspective. Michelle’s studies have included the sacred books of many traditions, including indigenous cultures, the Kabbalah and the Gnostics, as well as Jungian thought. She relies on her dreams, intuition, and instincts to guide her work.

Her Journey To Writing The Dissertation

Michelle Blair-Komara’s life path, from the moment of her birth, is foundational to her groundbreaking dissertation entitled Cowgirl as Goddess: An Inquiry into an Archetypal Image of the Instinctual Feminine in Texas Culture. Arriving on the earth with her first experience being one of near-death, her pursuit of lightness and darkness began young. The dissertation is catalyzed by the dissolution of Dr. Blair-Komara’s 21-year marriage, instigating intense self-exploration. A Fort Worthian, as well as a Texan, the frontier and its mythic Cowgirls echoed in her psyche since youth and became the north star of her journey inward.

Throughout this dissertation, she demonstrates how the Cowgirl, a recent historical image, emerged during the last two centuries and may serve as a guide to achieve wholeness for women of Texas and beyond. Although this dissertation is fueled by a personal story, it also presents a universal meaning, especially for American women, because the Cowgirl reflects everything ancient about the feminine world.
